Self Storage Checklist

General Advice

Place the heaviest items on the bottom with the lightest items on top
Do not store any foods, toxins or flammable materials
Label all the sides of your packaged containers / boxes
Place sheets / light blankets over or in between items to further protect them

Electrical Goods and Appliances

Pack away electronics in the box they came in, if this is not available, pack these items in thick newspapers or bubble wrap etc
Clean the appliances well before storing them
Leave any doors open to protect from mildew

Furniture, China and Glass

Disassemble tables and any other large items as this will save space
Apply ample furniture oil to wooden surfaces for added protection
Purchase holders with divides for china and glassware
Ensure that boxes with any glass or china in are clearly labelled as 'Fragile

Curtains and Clothing

Use dresser drawers to save space for smaller items
Ensure that your hangers do not rust
Purchase garment bags to hang your clothing
